Gateshead Synagogue
Project Value: £5M
Project Role: Lead Designer
Client: Meldrum Construction Services Ltd
GWA were commissioned by the main contractor to redesign the proposals for a new Synagogue in Gateshead. We were instrumental in changing the proposed construction methodology from concrete to a steel frame to provide a more affordable design solution.
Working closely with the contractor and client team, we also detailed all key internal elements including water storage areas, Mikvehs, changing facilities and event halls on the upper floor.
The first stage of works, abutting the exitsing building, were carried out with care to ensure all the existing facilities could remain in use throughout. The second phase of works will double the size of the Synagogue.
